CONFUCIUS SOUNDTRACK 2003

GRAPHIC DESIGN

The musical’s intent is to remind people not to forget the great philosopher and educator, Confucius. It encourages us to try to use his teachings to solve our problems in our lifetime. People today seem to be easily lost in utilitarianism, especially so in the modern metropolis.

The cover of the album is a silhouette of Confucius superimposed on the image of a busy city street with its heavy, chaotic traffic. It is a metaphor for the way people pursue their individualism also reflects their inner anxiety. In turn, it highlights Confucius' moral principles, once the moral basis taught to schoolchildren, but whose teachings have largely been abandoned by recent generations.

On both music CDs, the soundtracks are listed using calligraphy that expresses the beauty of Chinese characters.
